House Mother

Our current house mother is Liz Campbell, or "Mom Liz" as we like to call her. Mom Liz guides the members in ways of etiquette in daily life, but also takes a very active role in planning many chapter activities from Parent's Weekend to the Alumni Ball. In addition to her work for the fraternity, Mom Liz also is employed by the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce. When pledges move into the house they and their parents are greeted by Mom Liz's charming welcome, a spirit of joy that has yet to leave her as long as she has been with Kappa Sigma.

The Gamma-Psi Chapter of Kappa Sigma at Oklahoma State University is also proud to boast to have had the first House Mother of any fraternity in the nation. Ella Aspacia Ryan, or "Mom Ryan" became the first ever house mother in 1914 when Kappa Sigma at OSU was still known by its local name before affiliation in 1920, Gamma-Zeta. Mom Ryan served our chapter until the year of her death in 1940. Since Mom Ryan, we have had a string of other loving and devoted house mothers that the men of Kappa Sigma come to love. The longest serving house mother was Francis Blake from Shidler, Oklahoma. Beginning in 1972, Mom Blake was our house mother for 27 years until retiring in 1999, leaving as a staple of the Oklahoma State Greek community. Mom C.J. Warner was also with Kappa Sigma for several years before she left to work at the state capital. As you see, we love our house mothers for what they do for us and hope that each has a long and productive relationship with the men of Kappa Sigma, grooming us so that we may succeed in life.
